The Friends of the Solana Beach Library will host their monthly “Friends Night Out” on April 16, 2013 at 6:30 p.m.  The program will feature Tatjana Soli discussing her second book, The Forgetting Tree.  In this novel Tatjana weaves a story of two women from different cultural backgrounds on a remote citrus farm in Southern California.  It shows how their two cultures collide with dramatic consequences.  In a September 2012 NYT Book Review this novel was called “daring and haunting”

On May 14, 2013 at 6:30 the Friends invite you to listen to the Tuba Fours. The TubaFours, a quartet of Frank Baker and Paul Henkart on tenor tubas and Jim Hooper and Bill Riddell on bass tubas, will play a variety of classical, popular, and marching music. The Program will include selections such as John Philip Sousa’s Washington Post March, the Pink Panther, Sixteen Tons, The Wabash Cannon Ball, Mozart’s Eine Kliena Nachtmusik, Rossini’s William Tell Overture, and Sea Tubas, a unique medley of sea chanteys.
