Volunteer Opportunities
Book Store Docent: Volunteer docents contact Bookstore Manager, Doreen Tyndall at 858-755-8958. Bookstore Hours: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monday thru Saturday. Shiftwork at the Bookstore is available. Volunteers assist selling books, gift certificates and other miscellaneous items.

Committees:
Community Outreach:
1. Liaise with local columnists to get feature coverage of Library events.
2. Provide news releases to local media.
3. Proof and make ;final decisions for quarterly Newsletter to the membership.
4. Oversee and assist with update of Friends’ website.
5. Coordinate publicity for all events and work with specific Directors as necessary.
6. Create posters advertising major events as needed.
7. Assist with Special Events as requested and appropriate.
Ways and Means:
The Ways and Means Committee should consist of a minimum of three members who will help develop ideas for fund raising events for the Friends of the Solana Beach Library.
The Friends of the Solana Beach Library Ways and Means Committee is responsible for the following:
1. Identify, evaluate and execute ideas to raise money for the organization at regular monthly meetings. Promote the money raising events to the membership and community in the newsletter and by any other appropriate means.
2. Organize all fund raising events.
3. Select a location and theme for fund raising events, solicit donations as necessary for Silent Auctions and ticket drawings from members and vendors. Work with the Board and other volunteers to promote and administer the fund raising events.
4. Develop appropriate advertising for fund raising events, attracting interest from members and guests alike.
Audit and Finance:
1. Monthly review of all financial and checking activity. Compare budget versus actual and month-to month expenditures and report any unusual items to the Board for their consideration.
2. Make financial recommendations deemed appropriate and in accordance with established investment policy.
3. Determine the process to be used for annual financial report – full audit or review as deemed appropriate in the by-laws. Get bids for the type of financial review from 3 qualified CPAs. Present these bids to the Board and receive approval of accountant.
4. Make recommendations for CPA.
5. Deliver necessary materials including monthly financial reports, check register, meeting minutes and by laws to CPA. Receive his/her report, review for accuracy and present report to the Board.
