Book Donation Information

Donate your books and media to Friends!  Give your items a 2nd home and support a great cause. Proceeds from our Bookstore and our book sales support the Library. Each year we receive thousands of donated books, which we in turn resell to the public through the Friends’ Title Wave Bookstore.  Your donation is tax-deductible and helps to provide critical support to the Solana Beach Library and Friends’ community programs.

The Bookstore accepts donations of clean, new and gently used hardcover and softcover books, books on CDs, music CDs, and DVDs. Donations may be dropped off at the Title Wave Bookstore. Due to storage constraints, email ahead for any donations over four boxes or bags so we can make arrangements to store your donation, info@friendsofsolanabeachlibrary.org

KNOW THAT YOU HELP JUST BY DONATING YOUR BOOKS OR MEDIA

One way we raise money is through book donations! Your generous donations of new or gently used books, DVDs, videos and CDs are gratefully accepted. You may bring your donations directly to our bookstore located inside the Solana Beach Library, 157 Stevens Ave, Solana Beach, CA.

WHAT DONATIONS DO WE ACCEPT?

In addition to books, we accept donations of media and assorted printed material, including:

• Children’s books
• Audio CDs
• LPs
• Books on CD
• DVDs, Blu-ray discs
• Text books
• Graphic Novels-Comic Books. (Individual copies or box lots.)
• Recently dated Magazines (within 3 months of current date)
• Travel Guides within four years of current date

WHAT DONATIONS WE DO NOT ACCEPT?

• Books that are damp or moldy
• General encyclopedias (World Book, Britannica, etc.)
• Legal statutes and casebooks
• Loose CDs, DVDs, etc. without their cases
• Home-recorded (aka burned) CDs, DVDs, etc.
• VHS tapes

We love all donations, however, due to limited space we are only able to take donations of books up to 4 boxes (printing paper type) or less. If you have more boxes to donate just let the docent know so that they may coordinate how best to donate your additional books with the bookstore manager. Please note that the Solana Beach Library and our Bookstore are closed during the follow holidays: New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, MLK Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day & day-after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve & Christmas Day.

WHAT HAPPENS TO MY BOOKS WHEN I DONATE THEM?

Donated books are sold to the public through; our “Title Wave Bookstore, located inside the Solana Beach Library, 157 Stevens Ave; on-line sales; and through bookseller agreements. All profits benefit the Solana Beach library. We also donate books to other non-profit organizations.
